Learning Outcomes

Firstly, welcome to the Sprout family, to the Sprout Producer Program, and in particular to the Sprout Hub.

‘Farming looks mighty easy when your plough is a pencil and you’re a thousand miles from the corn field.’

Before we start, let’s pay attention to the above quote from the former President of the US, Dwight D Eisenhower.

It’s possibly fair to say that at Sprout our plough is a keyboard, and our office is in some cases hundreds of kilometres from the paddock.

But rest assured, here at Sprout we would never say farming looks easy. Yes, farming can be hugely rewarding, but we are not blind to the fact that it is also extremely challenging, and so we would like to take this moment to acknowledge the work you all do as farmers, and to say thank you.

Hopefully being part of the Sprout Producer Program will provide you with support and learning, and it will help set you up with a network of like-minded producers to assist you with your farming business, to be there to celebrate the victories and to pick you up when you’re feeling defeated.

To kick off the Sprout Producer Program and before diving into specific subjects we thought it was necessary to get to know each other, so January is all about introductions!

Throughout this month there will be opportunities for us to get to know you as people and producers, but we also thought it would be useful you you to get to know Sprout.

So let’s begin by giving you all an outline of Sprout as an organisation, the SPP, and how this year will work. As such, this course will provide you with some background information on the following:

  • Sprout Tasmania – who we are and what we do
  • The Sprout Producer Program – what it is and what to expect this year
  • The Sprout Hub – how it works and how to get the most from it

Below you will see the course content. Click on the first lesson, ‘Who is Sprout Tasmania’ to get started!
